Skyros lies further out into the Aegean and is really more like Cyclades in its style rather than like Sporades. |

| It is divided into two halves with the Northeast half being agricultural with pine forest, and the Southeastern part just like barren rocks with low scrubby bushes that only goats can survive on. |

The main village climbs up the slopes of a steep hill up to the top where a castle is positioned. The locals look after their town and it retains its centuries old character, with cobbled streets, and stone – paved courtyards. |
